Research Library

The receipts behind the stories.

History, politics, power, money, and the paper trails connecting them.

Gravel & Ink’s Research Library contains long-form investigations, historical research, timelines, primary documents, source collections, and working research projects. Some eventually become articles, podcast episodes, or books. Others live here simply because the information deserves to be documented.

Not every investigation is finished.

Some entries in this library are living research projects. They may be updated as records become available, new reporting emerges, government filings appear, or additional sources are located.

A Note from the Gravel & Ink Research Team

The Gravel & Ink Research Library is built around a simple principle: follow the evidence, even when it complicates the story.

Our goal is not to prove that one side is always right, find a villain for every story, or pretend complicated questions have simple answers. We look for historical context, primary documents, credible reporting, data, competing interpretations, and the connections that are often lost when a subject is reduced to a headline or social media argument.

Research is rarely finished. Sources conflict. New information becomes available. Reasonable people can examine the same evidence and reach different conclusions. When we get something wrong, we want to correct it. When important context is missing, we want to add it. And when the evidence does not support a definitive answer, we will say so.

This library is intended to be a living collection of research, not the final word on any subject.

Have a question we should investigate? Think we missed something? Disagree with our interpretation? Have a source, document, correction, counterargument, research project, or original research you would like us to consider?

Good-faith questions and disagreements are welcome here. In fact, they make the research better.
